Academic writing is boring; academics are not. Maybe we all just need to relearn how to write?

    I always get in trouble for my viewpoint on academic writing (and academia in general). The problem with academic writing is that it stifles creativity (which aggravates me) as well as makes many subjects inaccessible to the ordinary person. Education and knowledge should be accessible to everyone, not just people who can wade through chest-deep muddy prose.
